THE INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLER
“Epic from start to finish.” —Marie Lu, #1 New York Times best-selling author of Warcross
“A brilliant and breathless twist on classic mythology!” —Marissa Meyer, #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Lunar Chronicles
Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals. They are hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality.
Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory after her family was murdered by a rival line. For years she’s pushed away any thought of revenge against the man—now a god—responsible for their deaths.
Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek her out: Castor, a childhood friend and first love Lore believed to be dead, and Athena, one of the last of the original gods, now gravely wounded.
The goddess offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and a way to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore's decision to rejoin the hunt, binding her fate to Athena's, will come at a deadly cost—and it may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.
From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Darkest Minds comes a sweepingly ambitious, high-octane tale of power, destiny, love, and redemption.

spoiler-y?
not many thoughts just that the romance felt a little too forced and out of place + it's execution was so ??? to me. The first kiss.. was so.. RANDOM
I think it's an alright book, just not one I would pick up again.

Castor is bae but also a little judgmental. Van and Miles are adorable. Miles is by far the best character in this entire book. I will die on this hill. Also I was really confused on how olde everyone is supposed to be for at least 1/3 of the book. And, of course, Hermes coming in clutch as an icon in all forms of literature I come across him in lol
I thought this was a nice, light read. It kept me interested enough to want to keep reading more, even though I grew a bit tired of the main character. Her back story was decent enough, but her constant indecision was eh. Luckily, I really enjoyed all of the supporting characters. They all knew what they wanted and what they needed to do to get it. The Gods and Goddesses, some original, some reimagined, were the best part of the book. I'd recommend it to others, especially if you enjoy Greek mythology and you're looking for something light in between more consuming reads.
I listened for 8 hours straight and then could not come back to it. Maybe I got burnt out but it was the first book I DNFed in a long time...
Like a lot of other people, I agree that this was a cool concept. However, I barely knew what was going on. So many people got called old god and new god, every group of descendants had multiple names to be referenced as, and it was very confusing. Ultimately, it had a happy ending? Idk.
