Use these discussion questions to guide your next book club meeting.

How does Lore react to finding out Castor is alive? How do you think you would react in this type of circumstance?
Athena asked Lore to “bind your fate to mine”…what does this entail? How does it benefit both Lore and Athena? How can it hurt them?
What happens for seven days every seven years? Why is that event important in this story?
Lore’s father used to say, “Scars are tallies of the battles you’ve survived” (Page 120). We all come with our own physical and emotional scars. What kinds of scars does Lore possess? Castor? Miles?
Why does Wrath, the new Ares, plan to kill the other gods? What does he hope to gain from such killings?
In Chapter 18, Van states, “You know, some people get so used to looking out at life from the edge of their cage that they stop seeing the bars” (Page 164). What do you think he means?
On page 186, Lore’s father mentions, “How we are remembered is less important than what we do now.” Reflect on real world examples of this. Do people’s pasts matter as much as their presents? Why or why not?
Explain the relationship between Gil and Lore. How did your understanding about this dynamic change after discovering Gil was Hermes?
What is the significance of Lore cutting off Belen’s thumbs?
People, and is this case, gods, are not always as they seem. Give an example of this from Lore.
