Look In the Mirror: A Novel

From the New York Times bestselling author of Something in the Water comes āan utter white-knuckle ride that took me into a heart of darknessā (Lucy Foley, author of The Paris Apartment).
āAddictive, thrilling, intoxicating.āāLisa Jewell, author of None of This Is True
āThe vacation home of dreams . . . or nightmares? What a rideāI tore through this nail-biting, pacey read.āāSarah Pearse, author of The Retreat
Nina, still grieving from the loss of her father, discovers that she has inherited property in the British Virgin Islandsāa vacation home she had no idea existed, until now. The house is extraordinary: state-of-the-art, all glass and marble. How did her sensible father come into enough money for this? Why did he keep it from her? And what else was he hiding?
Maria, once an ambitious medical student, is a nanny for the super-rich. The moneyās better, and so are the destinations where her work takes her. Just one more gig, and sheāll be set. Finally, sheāll be secure. But when her wards never show, Maria begins to make herself at home, spending her days luxuriating by the pool and in the sauna. Thereās just one rule: Donāt go in the basement. That room is off-limits. But her curiosity might just get the better of her. And soon, sheāll wish her only worry was not getting paid.

Loved the beginning and the plot of this book , great twist in the middle of the book however it was also predictable and the ending was ehhh.
Sigh. This book had me hooked for a bit and then it just gotā¦messy? Not sure if thatās the word Iām truly looking for. š§
The timelines kept jumping around between two different characters, Nina and Maria. I couldnāt tell if they were in the house at the same time or not! š¤ I did like Mariaās character and thought her story was going to take a different arc from how it ended up. š
The ending seemed rushed and a few things seemed pretty far-fetched, but I wonāt get into that so I donāt give spoilers out! š¤
The house definitely was giving some creepy vibes, which Iām always here for!! šš
I always say every book isnāt meant for everyone, so feel free to still give this one a try!! š¤ I still plan to read more from this author as well!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for my honest review! ā¤ļø
