light bringer cracked my chest open and stomped on my soul. this book is long, dense, and emotionally loaded in the most devastating way. it’s not just war but it’s the cost of holding onto hope when everything is broken. pierce brown took every thread of this saga and wove it into something heart-wrenching. i cried. like sobbed. the ending absolutely was absolute unfair and tear jerking.
darrow is so tired in this book. not just physically but existentially. he’s lost so much, and you can feel it in every word. the weight he carries, the way he still chooses to fight even when everything feels impossible, it broke me. his arc in this book is one of the most powerful things i’ve ever read.
the other POVs hit just as hard. lyria’s growth is stunning. she’s gone from survivor to hero, and her strength gutted me. sevro and mustang had me on edge constantly. cassius… don’t even get me started. the redemption, the grief, the love. i wasn’t ready.
and then there’s lysander… still a pixie. somehow even more delusional than before, and yet, he’s written so well it makes you sick. i hated him. i pitied him. i rolled my eyes, yelled and flip him off. yes i flipped off a book.
light bringer is a masterpiece of pain, healing, and impossible choices. it’s full of quiet devastation and brutal hope. every line is laced with emotion, and the final chapters left me sobbing. this series means everything to me, and this book might be the one that hit the hardest.
