Life After Death: A Novel (2) (The Winter Santiaga Series)

INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
INSTANT USA TODAY BESTSELLER

The long-anticipated sequel to Sister Souljah’s million copy New York Times bestseller The Coldest Winter Ever.

Winter Santiaga hit time served. Still stunning, still pretty, still bold, still loves her father more than any man in the world, still got her hustle and high fashion flow. She’s eager to pay back her enemies, rebuild her father’s empire, reset his crown, and ultimately to snatch Midnight back into her life no matter which bitch had him while she was locked up. But Winter is not the only one with revenge on her mind. Simone, Winter’s young business partner and friend, is locked and loaded and Winter is her target. Will she blow Winter’s head off? Can Winter dodge the bullets? Or will at least one bullet blast Winter into another world? Either way Winter is fearless. Hell is the same as any hood and certainly the Brooklyn hood she grew up in. That’s what Winter thinks.

A heartwarming, heart-burning, passionate, sexual, comical, and completely original adventure is about to happen in real time—raw, shocking, soulful, and shameless. True fans won’t let Winter travel alone on this amazing journey.

It was a VERY interesting part two type of novel. First off, we LOVE Sister Soulja and her work. BUT... We wanted SO much love this but unfortunately it fell short of a few things:

1. Most of us listened to the Audible, we love Nia Long but her voice as Winter was a "NO GO". No real inflection or something that brings the character to life.

2. The overall plot was simply weird. Very uninteresting, preachy and disconnecting. We found it hard to follow the trashy sex scenes with mentions of abortion, Islamic religion and other off topic issues.

3. The ENTIRE book summary is located in the last few sentences of the chapter. Meaning the other 20+ chapters are simply a waste of time and energy.

I came across some wild reviews before I began reading this book and the shapeshifting sex is just as vulgar as you fae, warlock, creature genre fans out there so why are yall tripping on Souljah for it? After getting passed that part I think the book really blew me away about how she hooked the readers into how Winter became more self aware which is all I wanted since the beginning. As smart as Winter is the hood, oblivious, materialistic and prideful demeanor made me truly hate her character! Souljah really turned this around I love how this story ended. I want to see what happens to Ricky even though he was released from prison. Will Winter meet someone and live a different life? Did Simone, Natalie and the other girls have another part where they try to takedown Winter again? I have so many questions. Any ways onto Love after Midnight!!!
