Kill for Me, Kill for You: A Novel

Two ordinary women make a deadly pact to take revenge for each other after being pushed to the brink in this “unguessable and unputdownable” (Alex Michaelides, #1 New York Times bestselling author) psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn and Alfred Hitchcock.
One dark evening on New York City’s Upper West Side, two strangers meet by chance. Over drinks, Amanda and Wendy realize they have much in common, including an intense desire for revenge against the men who destroyed their families. As they talk into the night, they come up with the perfect plan: if you kill for me, I’ll kill for you.
In another part of the city, Ruth is home alone when the beautiful brownstone she shares with her husband, Scott, is invaded. She’s attacked by a man with piercing blue eyes, who disappears into the night. Will she ever be able to feel safe again while the blue-eyed stranger is out there?
“Explosive, game-changing” (Publishers Weekly, starred review), and unpredictable, Kill for Me, Kill for You will keep you guessing until the final page.

Kill for Me, Kill for You is a psychological thriller that starts with two grieving women meeting at an anonymous grief group and decide to swap murders in revenge of their murdered children.
The story is primarily told from two perspectives – that of Ruth, a woman who is the victim of a home invasion, and Amanda, a woman whose spouse and daughter have died. Sprinkled here and there are two additional perspectives from Ruth’s husband, Scott, and the detective on the cases, Farrow.
I expected Kill for Me, Kill for You to pull me in quickly. However, nothing substantial occurs until about 20 percent into the story. That first fifth of narrative is filled with background about the women and the crimes experienced. Once Amanda goes to group therapy, the narrative begins to pick up in pace.
Finally, while the final twist is a fun one, it did not sit well with me. I think the main character’s lack of reaction is what bothers me most. I was expecting an extremely reaction from the victim, and when it was just not there, I didn’t enjoy the ending as much as I should have.
Overall, I did like the book. I think that my expectation of was bigger than the book. I loved Th1rt3en, and going into this one, it fell short for me.

Great plot twists but too dark for me.
Felt like it took a while to gain traction. I liked how the 2 story lines came together. And the ending i didn't see coming.
I just finished Kill for Me Kill for You on audio, and while I absolutely loved it, I couldn’t help but wish I had read the physical copy instead. This book is packed with cliffhangers at the end of every chapter, and I feel like flipping those pages would’ve made the experience even more intense.
That said, even in audio format, this was a solid 10/10 for me—which says a lot because I’m super picky about handing out five stars. The plot twists completely blindsided me, and the characters pulled me in so deeply that I genuinely felt for them. It’s the kind of story where you’re rooting for everyone while simultaneously bracing for chaos.
My advice? Pick up a physical copy if you can. This is such a page-turner, and Steve did a phenomenal job crafting a story that keeps you on edge from start to finish. Highly recommend!
