It wasn't until I was waist-high in Rachel Hawkins' The Wife Upstairs that I realized I was breaking my rule: no reading or watching adaptations of a novel before getting a baseline by reading the original. So, of course, I had to fast-track the Bronte tale to the front of my TBR.
This was my first foray into the Bronte Sisters' Universe. And...
Reader, I loved it.
Re-read this for a book club and boy was it funnier and more chaotic than I remember. It's also really sad at times and the biggest deepest mood you'll feel at others. But at times it wasn't entirely for me in thought, as it once upon a time had been, yet I still really enjoyed it so, that speaks on how well the storytelling is.
