Hideaway (Devil's Night)

All the twisted games are back as Devil's Night returns in this dark romance from New York Times bestselling author Penelope Douglas, now with bonus material.

Buried in the shadows of the city, there's an abandoned hotel called The Pope, surrounded by a mystery about the hidden twelfth floor and the guest who never checked out. Banks knows the local legend, but Kai Mori believes the myth around the hotel. He and his friends think they know her, think they can scare her, but Banks knows something they don't. Even though she struggles to hide everything she feels when Kai looks at her, the person he seeks is much closer than he'll ever realize.

She'll never reveal her secret. This Devil's Night, Kai will be the hunted one.

But Banks doesn't know what Kai had to turn into to survive three years in prison. He wants the hotel, its guest, and his life back. But the more he's around Banks, the more Kai realizes this new version of himself is exactly who he was meant to be.

Kai's seen her hideaway. It's time for Banks to see his.

Really loved this book, absolutely loved the blossoming relationship between Banks and Kai. I read Corrupt and fell in love with Michael and now I've read this, I'm in love with Kai 😭 I just wish there was a bit more on their relationship at the end, but absolutely loved it.

Hideaway is one of my Roman Empire books, I think about Kai and Banks often. Kia needs a 5 Banks needs to kick some ass IMO. The feelings I felt for these 2 were so strong and I just held my kindle to my chest ever so often, hoping they would end up happy. I can say I went through all kinds of emotions while reading Hideaway and I didn't want it to end. By the time I got to the end I was ready to cut everyone off because Damon could kick Rick for all I cared.

I loved Kai in the first book so I was really excited to get to see things through his perspective, piggy backing off of the first. I was a little upset that the book is supposed to be of Kai but I felt like we got way too much from Banks, that was really disappointing to me. I was also really surprised about how much happened in the last 150 pages of the book compared to the rest of the book. I also am not a big fan of the slow burn romances but I do love this story line. I also didn't like that so much of the book was waiting for the other shoe to drop with Damon's character and it took a long time to get to it. I wish we could have seen more plot and not so much suspense in regard to both Damon's character and the romance between Kai and Banks buuuuut the sauna scene LOVED!

This book was very long and very dragged out as a result. The story wasn’t overly interesting, but I did enjoy the interactions between the two main characters.
