What a story! My favorite book so far of this series. So much going on, I was sobbing. Hungry for more!

This book was a little bit slower than the other two; lots to build up to. The last 60 pages or so are brillant and I didn't want to stop reading.

This book took me painfully long to finish, it was slow, boring, without much plot til the very last 60 pages. Even then, the last 60 pages seemed to have like 4 different endings. Whats worse is how this book is just a restructuring of the whole world and story. It doesn't even try not to be contradictory, but it always is.

Celaena, who is also Aelin, who is an assassin, princess, warrior, hero, savior, healer, mate, non-mate, niece to some queen, peasant, rich heiress to a mighty flame and healing water power or whatever. You name it, she is everything.
Celaena, who didn't know anything about her past in book 1, all she knew was cold-hearted murder. Also Celaena, who in book 2 turns into a fae, also coincidentally "hid" her past, and suddenly knows everything.
Celaena, master of a well of power in book 3, can recall with vivid detail the past she had "no clue" about in book 1 and suddenly doesn't want to be a queen and princess and such and such.
Blergh.

The ending in 60 pages had more action than the rest of the 450 pages of the book. The only good thing so far is the introduction of the new characters, but how SJM is trying to re-write the story makes it useless to even had bothered to read the first 2 books.

I get this is SJM earlier works and it's not going to be as good as CC or ACOTAR. I'm reading it to piece together the rest of the beloved books she has written. It's just so juvenile and reads so comical I find it hard to take it seriously.

2/5 bah.

Definitely not my favourite book in the series so far, the aggressive self-help book quotes Rowan kept throwing out as if that was just going to help Aelin. But I do love the character Rowan grows into with his own healing and all the great plot points of this well written book so I can't justify anything less than 4 stars since even the parts I didn't love just made me want to examine characterization and motivations instead of stop reading.
