Hawke was such a broken soul but a strong man.
TWs: cheating, attempted SA, drug use, death of a loved one
I really liked this book. The only reason that I took away one star is that I struggle with books with a cheating element to them. That being said, you could tell that she was with the wrong man from the beginning. Patrick didnât love her in the way that he should have. He only valued what she would look like in his life as long as she did everything that he believed was right and not who she was as a person or what she actually wanted. He was demeaning and misogynistic towards Cole and what her goals were. Hawke listened to her and supported her even from a distance. All he wanted to do was help her and take care of her the best way that he knew how. Hawke was dealt a super shitty hand and it seemed as though Cole was the only person that could actually see the real him. You could tell that these two were meant for each other, especially once they stopped fighting how they felt. They fixed each otherâs broken pieces and loved each other fiercely. In the beginning Cole felt like a slightly weak character who was afraid to stand up for herself and didnât really realize that there was anything wrong with her relationship until Hawke showed up and showed her what she was missing. Jescie Hall is very good at making you root for the misunderstood âvillainâ. She is especially good at writing about the âgood girlâ who realizes that life isnât that black and white. And the couple loves to live in the world of grey. Â

Wow such a great book. Even the bonus chapter. Wish that stayed as part of the book. I will have to re read it including it. The spicy was 🌶🌶🌶🌶
The books FMC was very immature for me, she kept blaming the MMC, and although I believe it’s because she did suffer some emotional trauma she never took true accountability for her actions. The beginning wasn’t very good, the middle was muddy, and the ending felt rushed as did their emotional relationship. The spice however was about every other page, and that I did love won’t lie… some parts could be cringy but overall enjoyable.
