So Harry and the gang go up against Lord Voldemort once again- At the beginning Harry is upset because no one believes Voldemort has returned. The media has made Harry out to be crazy. He feels ousted because Dumbledore will not pay any attention to him. In the end Harry and his friends triumph over Umbridge and Voldemort with help from the Order of the Phoenix- Sirius is killed in battle. Harry wants to find a way to speak to him again. He goes back to the Dursley's for the summer, but not without the Order of the Phoenis's warning about treating Harry well while he's in their care.

The book was too long to be really enjoyable but still a fun read. I find the differences and similarities between the books and the movies interesting.

With each Harry Potter book I read, I think, "No, wait, this is my favorite one!" The beginning and opening of the Order of the Phoenix is definitely on the top of my all-time favorite scenes from a book. Even before I saw the movie, the beginning of this book was so clearly visualized in my mind. I could see Harry hiding in the bushes and trying to overhear a piece of news, fighting the dementors, and carrying a shocked Dudley back home. But I had forgotten just how sad Harry is from the end of the fourth book on. It's a bittersweet thing--hard, but necessary.

Liked it more than the previous 4, but still can't bring myself to 4 stars yet. 3 1/2. I'm betting I'll get up to 4 by the end of the series.

I found this book to be an uphill battle to get into, I understand the need to continue building the story and focusing on the unspoken relationship between Harry and Voldemort, but there's only so much moody-ness that can be a theme before it becomes redundant.
I did find this book comparative to the movie, not saying there weren't differences, but overall did a good job of hitting closer to the primary themes and events which was refreshing compared to the prior movies.
