Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Illustrated Edition (Harry Potter, Book 1)

The beloved first book of the Harry Potter series, now fully illustrated by award-winning artist Jim Kay.

For the first time, J.K. Rowling's beloved Harry Potter books will be presented in lavishly illustrated full-color editions. Award-winning artist Jim Kay has created over 100 stunning illustrations, making this deluxe format a perfect gift for a child being introduced to the series and for dedicated fans.

Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility.

All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley - a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.

But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry - and anyone who reads about him - will find unforgettable.

Living with two Harry Potter fans, I finally got around to reading The Sorcerer's Stone. Very enjoyable and I thought the movie stuck close to the book.

There’s a family secret that has been held from Harry Potter since he was a baby. Turns out both his parents were wizards who were killed by Lord Voldemort. Fortunately, Harry survived the dark lord’s curse, but in turned was cursed to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousin who all took turns treating him poorly. One day a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrives which spills the secret of him being a wizard just like his parents. Harry couldn’t wait to leave his life of misery behind for the wizarding world. When he arrives at Hogwarts, he’s the talk of the town. He’s known as “the boy who lived.” In searching for his place in the wizarding world, he stumbles upon the mystery of the missing sorcerer’s stone. This is where his adventure begins. Reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone brought me back to the days in primary school rushing to my school library making sure no one else could get this book before me. Sitting there deeply entangled in the wizarding world. I imagined myself on every page as I was in house Gryffindor proudly dressed in scarlet and gold. Thank you you J.K Rowling and Jim Kay for unwrapping that memory. Harry Potter is for everyone. It’s captivating, mesmerizing, and MAGICAL!!
