Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires, Book 1)

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation, where the popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks in the school's social scene: somewhere less than zero.

When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life. But they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood.

I'm flying through it, it's not too long which is a nice break. Seems to be a severe lack of common sense and/or bravery in the people in this novel. Half upsetting, but I keep reminding myself it's a work of fiction let me read it as such. It's definitely aimed at teens... though I'm not sure that is a good thing? WORK of FICTION >.< The plot is bearable, I can get really amped about it but not at the same time. Once you get past the beginnings, the teenage drama, all the beatings, and how 'special' Claire is, things get better.. And it would be much better if she wasn't 16? Why does she need to be so young and 'spectacular'.... tons of kids go to college, would have worked just fine if she were older.
/endrant Apparently I hate Claire.
I liked the other characters well enough, how their personalities worked, how they were described, acted, lived day to day. My bother was really just Claire.

I hated the ending.
After enjoying the majority of the plot I got to the last page and was severely disappointed. An ending is usually required. I don't mind a cliff hanger, but this was just cut off. I know there is a whole series and all but I still hated it. Might pick up the second one... We'll see.
