What if your roommate is your soul mate? A joyful, quirky romantic comedy, Beth O'Leary's
The Flatshare is a feel-good novel about finding love in the most unexpected of ways.

Tiffy and Leon share an apartment. Tiffy and Leon have never met.

After a bad breakup, Tiffy Moore needs a place to live. Fast. And cheap. But the apartments in her budget have her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on the walls counts as art.

Desperation makes her open minded, so she answers an ad for a flatshare. Leon, a night shift worker, will take the apartment during the day, and Tiffy can have it nights and weekends. He’ll only ever be there when she’s at the office. In fact, they’ll never even have to meet.

Tiffy and Leon start writing each other notes – first about what day is garbage day, and politely establishing what leftovers are up for grabs, and the evergreen question of whether the toilet seat should stay up or down. Even though they are opposites, they soon become friends. And then maybe more.

But falling in love with your roommate is probably a terrible idea…especially if you've never met.

This was one of my first reads and always will remeber how I felt during this read. This book is super easy to follow, the writing is good and has some (not much) real topics of Emotional abuse, Gaslighting, Sexual abuse and Cheating so be mindful of this. Although it doesn’t take away from the book at all

An enchanting romantic comedy, that captivates from the start with its unique premise and delightful blend of humour and emotion. The story follows Tiffy and Leon, two characters with different lives who share a flat due to conflicting schedules, leading to a series of hilarious and touching events. The book explores personal growth and healing with authenticity and sensitivity, skilfully addressing serious issues while maintaining a light-hearted tone. The palpable chemistry between Tiffy and Leon, along with a well-developed supporting cast, adds depth to the narrative. With witty charm and perfect pacing, the alternating perspectives provide a well-rounded view of their evolving relationship. This feel-good novel combines humour, romance, and personal growth, leaving readers with a lasting and uplifting experience. A fantastic choice for those seeking a charming and heartwarming read!

This was absolutely adorable. Tiffy is one of those quirky British office girls like the ones in Marian Keyes novels and not unlike Bridget Jones but with less angst. She needs a new place and fast - her on/off boyfriend has asked her to move out of his flat. She finds an ad for a flat share with Leon who works nights in palliative care, so they would never be in the flat at the same time. And so it begins. They don’t meet but leave notes for one another. A friendship quickly develops. Then more. Then less. And lots of drama, but fairly closed door romance.

I adore this book! I used exclusively read fantasy books but in the middle of the world ending in 2020, I decided I needed a change. This book made me fall in love with a whole new book genre. I cannot go too deep into why I loved this book without spoiling it.

It was a really really cute read. The slow burn was worth it. The ML was the greenest flag ever
