This book was quite honestly ridiculous. Because of that, it's difficult to rate. I don't think anyone reading this and enjoying it is following the plot becuase the plot was lost in the beginning of the book. Penny D knows how to write spice, but it felt like the plot was just a means to an end to get to the spice that she must have wanted in this book. I didn't understand the characters by the end. The side stories made no sense. And there were lots of moments that were confusing and lacked continuity. Like at one point a character finds out their mother did something terrible, and then in the next chapter that character says they are not mad at her... then they proceed to yell at her on the next page. It just felt like a lot of random scenes slapped together in a way that confused me. I wouldn't recommend bothering with this series.
Well, this did not go how expected from jump.
It was not a duet. It was duel. 6 narrators, 6 POVs, first person. Each narrator did all the parts of their section of the book. If it was Macon's chapter, he would do Krisjen's voice in his own voice just more falsetto.
It didn't end how I expected at all, and I'm disappointed about it. This has every sign of being a reverse harem, and IT IS NOT.
Krisjen, the friend of Liv's and Clay's from high school and was featured in Tryst Six Venom, is now still in town after HS graduation, and her life is pretty much falling apart. Her dad left and took all the money. Her mom is out trolling for daddy number 2, which leaves Krisjen alone to take care of her 2 younger siblings.
The guys all have their own problems. Iron is going to prison, Trace, Krisjen has already been with at least 20 times in the course of a couple of months, and he's losing interest. Dallas hates her for some reason, Army is the single father of a 1 year old, and Macon is so depressed he's suicidal.
I was really hoping for her to end up with all of them, and she had sex with all of them except Dallas and didn't end up with all of them, just Macon.
It's an HFN for the family. I think it's an HEA for Krisjen and Macon. I think they'll be more books with the other brothers finding their own HEAs.
The bonus scene with Dallas and Callum infers that their's could be the next book, and it would be contentious. Hopefully closer to Garron Park by Nordika Night -boys who fight as much as they fuck type thing. That would be great.
Although Krisjen is having sex with 4 different brothers it's all very vanilla and doesn't start until about the halfway point. I'm giving 1 Chili for having variety, and 1 Chili for doing it in the back of a cop car while the cops were in the car, that scene is 🔥. And it loses chilis for lack of creativity and adventurousness, so the end result is 🌶🌶/5 chilis on the spicy scale.

It’s giving…. The Ravenhood series. I’m glad that I read the Ravenhood series before this book because it primed me for the storyline. The writing was well done in most parts but the characters were hard to like and harder to relate to especially the MFC. There was a lot of events that were… unrealistic. I’m never a fan of a female character who does stupid things and I got a lot of it in this book. The different POVs helped move this book along and it went pretty quickly especially on audio because there were different voices for the characters. The spice was good also.

I really enjoyed this one. After Birthday Girl fell short for me, I was a little leery about immediately starting another of her books, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had plot, it had spice, it was emotional, it had a couple twists...it was a great book overall.
