First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson Series)

First Grave on the Right is the smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper.
Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to go into the light. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely. This is a thrilling debut novel from Darynda Jones, an exciting newcomer to the world of paranormal romantic suspense. First Grave on the Right is the winner of the 2012 Rita Award for Best First Book.BUY THE BOOK

I really enjoyed this book!
I’m just afraid that this is going to be the only one in the series, that I’ll like. Based on the ending I feel like the book series is going to be too supernatural... as in the true meaning of the word and the TV show. I’m hoping it won’t be like the show Supernatural with the Heaven vs Hell none sense.
This book had such character and witty moments that I literally chuckled. Yes, chuckled.
But, I am going to continue on with the series, even though I’m apprehensive about the hole “son of Satan” angle.

For the most part I enjoyed this story and found some of the narrator's observations really funny, but the whole "son of Satan" twist was a little weird. I cracked up at her use of "Danger" and "Will Robinson"!
That was...dumb. Like a knock-off Stephanie Plum novel with added rapeyness. I'm taking a pass on the rest of the series.
