I really love this series in spite of how long and drawn out these books are. Every time I finish a book, I can't imagine how the author will continue the story of Jamie and Claire and every new book I start, I am excited about how the story is going to evolve.
However, at the end of this book, I can't help but feel that the author is setting up the remaining books to move on from Jamie and Claire and is getting ready to start Roger and Brianna's story and I'm just not all the invested in them as I have been in Jamie and Claire. I so love Jamie and Claire that I really am not looking forward to them moving into the background to make more room for Roger and Brianna.
Then there's the whole thing about a particular scene in the very first episode of the tv show Outlander. I know I shouldn't compare the two mediums (everyone knows the books are always better than the tv shows) but there was this scene where Jamie was standing outside of Claire and Frank's hotel room before Claire ever went back in time. Furthermore, Jamie appeared as something of a ghost in that scene. Jamie is always described as a large (6'3") man and Frank much shorter but in the scene, Frank was taller than Jamie.
Anyway, as I said, I love the series and I will probably end up reading all of the books just to find out how the stories end.

This hefty tome took me a while to get through, but it wasn't because of a lack of interest. Unfortunately, I was unable to set life aside so I could quietly inhale this book. Drums of Autumn finds Jamie and Claire in America, and I'm still baffled at all of the things that occurred during this fourth installment. The last 300 pages were almost unputdownable. I don't know how Diana Gabaldon does it, but each book holds its own. Thoroughly enjoyable!
