Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as shocking as the events that gave it birth: the secret of an ancient circle of standing stones, the secret of a love that transcends centuries, and the truth of a man named Jamie Fraser--a Highland warrior whose gallantry once drew the young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his. Claire's spellbinding journey continues through the intrigue-ridden French court and the menace of Jacobite plots, to the Highlands of Scotland, through war and death in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves.

The second book in the hugely popular Outlander series, Dragonfly in Amber, does not disappoint. This books focuses on time-travelling 20th-century World War II nurse, Claire Randall and her 18th-century Scottish Highland husband Jamie Fraser as they try to prevent the Jacobite uprising against England that leads to an end to Highland life as they know it.
This book is primarily in France and Scotland in 1744 and 1745 as they try to prevent Bonnie Prince Charlie from gaining power and money, allowing him to lead a Scottish army against the English. You also see many different sides to Claire and Jamie as they go through Claireâs pregnancy and seeing an old enemy back from the dead. Part of the book also is in Scotland in 1968 with Claire Randall and her daughter Brianna, as Claire tries to find records of the Scottish men she used to know.
This second book continues the high action and adds a lot of other elements like intrigue, court politics, and revenge. I loved the second book and canât wait till I get my hands on the third. Iâm also glad I know whatâs going to happen in season 2 of the Outlander TV show. So if youâre looking for ways to stay ahead of the show, grab Dragonfly in Amber.

Just as much as I adored the first, the sequel also to die for. Again I say, I believe all young women should read this series. So satisfying.
Another compelling and breathtakingly beautiful novel by Diane! Brought tears to my eyes more than once and it's truly a love story that goes on for decades. More twists and drama and more surprises!
Fun! As this story unravels, Claire is back in the 20th century, with Jamie's daughter (now 18 yrs old). They visit Scotland, found the son of the parson who had helped her back there. And as they explore the countryside, they visit an old church and find Jamie's tombstone. Then Claire shares the story with the two of them and we go back to the 15th century. I can't wait until the next one!
