Devil's Daughter: The Ravenels meet The Wallflowers (The Ravenels, 5)

NAMED OF THE BEST ROMANCES BY OPRAH MAG!

Although beautiful young widow Phoebe, Lady Clare, has never met West Ravenel, she knows one thing for certain: he's a mean, rotten bully. Back in boarding school, he made her late husband's life a misery, and she'll never forgive him for it. But when Phoebe attends a family wedding, she encounters a dashing and impossibly charming stranger who sends a fire-and-ice jolt of attraction through her. And then he introduces himself...as none other than West Ravenel.

West is a man with a tarnished past. No apologies, no excuses. However, from the moment he meets Phoebe, West is consumed by irresistible desire...not to mention the bitter awareness that a woman like her is far out of his reach. What West doesn't bargain on is that Phoebe is no straitlaced aristocratic lady. She's the daughter of a strong-willed wallflower who long ago eloped with Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent--the most devilishly wicked rake in England.

Before long, Phoebe sets out to seduce the man who has awakened her fiery nature and shown her unimaginable pleasure. Will their overwhelming passion be enough to overcome the obstacles of the past?

Only the devil's daughter knows...

Ah, my heart swells so much for this series!

If you haven’t started this series, I demand you go out and find this series and start listening.

Right now.

I’ll wait.

…..

And yes, I say the whole series because you will NOT be able to listen to just one. You’ll NEED the rest!

Historical Romance is a new love for me over this past year. I now understand why Lisa Kleypas is labeled the QUEEN of HR because she writes such interesting, fun, and sexy books!

In this installment in The Ravenel’s Series, we FINALLY get West’s book. We first meet West in book 1, and he’s been such a charmer. I say he’s had the most growth of all the characters as the series has continued on. While Phoebe isn’t my favorite heroine of the series, I loved that she grew out of her shell and was able to get past the grievances of her past.

Now, this installment coincides with one of her previous series, The Wallflowers, which I did not read, and don’t NEED to read to enjoy this one.

Mary Jane Wells is moving up on my favorites list of narrators. She does a voice for all the different characters and is able to maintain it through the series. I love it!

Hopefully, by now, I’ve convinced you to start this series. PLEASE DO! It’s such a delight.

I loved the chemistry and banter between Phoebe and West. Their story started as a slow burn but once the fire was lit their romance heated up the pages. They had a lot of things to work through, such as Phoebe’s preconceived opinion of West and the fact that West didn’t think he could atone his past sins, that he didn’t deserve to find a HEA, especially with someone like Phoebe.

I loved how West encouraged and empowered Phoebe to find herself and take charge of her life and how Phoebe showed West that he deserved to be loved. They played well off of each other and I also liked how West interacted with her children.

Devil’s Daughter also brought us a fun update on Evie & Sebastion St. Vincent (Phoebe’s parents) whose book Devil in Winter is still one of my all-time favorites. I loved seeing them still enjoying their HEA.
