Readers say *Desperate Measures* delivers a steamy, darkly twisted retelling with a very high smut level that fans of explicit romance will appreciate...
Definitely a good enemies to lovers book. I really like the bdsm and voyeurism. It's dark but not so dark that you can't stop reading it. I enjoyed it
A super steamy, deliciously naughty book
Literally could’ve steamed up my glasses reading this one! This is my first Katee Robert book but it is clear that she has a gift! The relationship in this book is hot right from the get-go. I particularly loved the worldbuilding she does in this book that provides a fresh, new twist on heroes/heroines and villains. Can’t wait to see what the rest of this series has in store for readers!

Desperate Measures is a modern-day retelling of Aladin that focuses on Jafar and Jasmine. Balthazar, Jasmine's father, is a big player in Carver City. While the story doesn't specify just how Balthazar obtained his power and money, I think it's safe to say that he is probably one of many mobsters in the city or, at least, involved in some sort of criminal activity. To expand his territory, grasp, and influence in Carver City, he arranges a marriage between Jasmine and a man named Ali (who is a grade-A butthole). Jafar, who has been allied to Balthazar for a number of years and who has wanted Jasmine since the moment he met her, swoops in to dethrone Balthazar and save her from Ali. He gives her choice - submit to him as he knows she wants to or use her safeword and he will allow her to walk out. Jasmine, who has wanted/lusted for Jafar for some time, chooses to "flee" so Jafar can "capture" her and make her his. He takes her from her home - a place she's been trapped in all her life - and brings her to his penthouse where their games begin. Guest-starring the likes of Hades, Megaera, Hook, and Tink. I'm giving this four stars on the kinkiness alone though be warned that this type of dark romance (and it does end up being a romance at the end) is not for everyone! However, the story could have been fleshed out more to make it a longer read, to explain a little more than it did as far as what everyone's business is, how the power structure is set up, the backgrounds of different characters, etc. I'll be reading more of this series in hopes that the author does end up fleshing things out.

Too much smutt. I needed a better story.
It felt very rushed for me, not really complicated plot or characters. It only took me 4 hours to read the book. I gagged every time I read "baby girl" or "daddy". I'm tempted to count how many times it was said.
The only part I enjoyed was how it ended.
