Dark Harmony (The Bargainer, 4)

From bestselling indie author Laura Thalassa comes the newly revised and edited final book in her smash-hit dark fantasy romance between a siren and the "bargainer" she owes countless favors to.

There are worse things than death. Things that lurk in the shadows and slip into dreams. Things that once slept...but have now awakened.

For Callypso Lillis, the fae magic that now runs through her veins is equal parts curse and good fortune. While it bonds her to Desmond Flynn, her soulmate and the King of Night, it also leaves her newly vulnerable to the Thief of Souls, who wants to break the Otherworld...and Callie along with it.

But it's not just the Thief whose shadow looms over the fae realms. Des's father, the previous King of Night, has returned from the dead, and he wants revenge on the son who sent him to the grave in the first place.

Time is running out to track down both enemies and stop their plans from unfolding. Callie and Des race across realms, gathering clues and unraveling secrets, but fate and chaos are catching up to them. If they can't find a way to stop the forces working to tear them and their kingdom apart, they risk not just their lives, but the lives of all fairies...and unfortunately for them, death is no longer the worst outcome.

I'm getting a tattoo for this series. It's one of my top favorites of all time. The bond with these characters. The mystery. The slow burn. The back story. It's all so good

The plot had dark themes to it. The writing is light airy, sometimes it feels like the characters are talking on top of each other. Callie's growth is a major theme, which I love a strong FMC. There is spice, but there is also a love story playing out as well. I enjoyed the conclusion to the bargainer series.

I feel the need to read something innocent and sweet next just to cleanse my palette because there was way too much sex to skim over in book 3, and I'm rather glad to be done with this trilogy. I would give this book 2.5 stars due to the fact that the author threw in some pretty savage twists and kept me guessing during the climax of the story. I didn't quite know what to think or how she was going to resolved things, and you know I like it when an author can still surprise me.
