Everyone knows DAISY JONES & THE SIX, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ’n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.
Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.
The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

What’s it about?
This book is written as an oral history of a fictitious rock band in the 1970's. Billy Dunne is the lead singer and undisputed head of The Six- an up and coming rock band. Daisy Jones is a wild child with talented singing voice and a desire to do things her own way. When a producer decides to pair the band with Daisy Jones- a legend is made.
What did it make me think about?
The 1970"s! I came of age in the 70's and just enjoyed this love story wrapped up in a drugged filled, rock n' roll package.
Should I read it?
After reading Milkman I was so ready to just enjoy a book. Daisy Jones & The Six was like the perfect anecdote. It reads like an interview from lots of different perspectives. It just flies by. Very enjoyable- not necessarily thought provoking, but just so much fun! By the way- it is basically a good old-fashioned love story.
Quote-
"You have to have one person in your life that you know would never do anything to steer you wrong. They may disagree with you. They could even break your heart, from time to time. But you have to have one person, at least, who you know will always tell you the truth."

I read this when it was the Hello Sunshine book of the month, and I can’t articulate how much I hated it. The characters are truly unlikable and I found myself not caring if their band succeeded or imploded, or if their personal relationships did the same. The book itself is derivative and is basically Fleetwood Mac’s bio told by way of a watered down ‘Don’t Sleep With Your Drummer’.
I really thought I would love this book but it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t actively dislike it, I just didn’t care about anything that was happening, the characters, the music etc. The writing wasn’t bad by any means and there were things I liked enough but I found myself skimming through the book after I hit halfway because It wasn’t holding my interest at all. Sad!
I didn't love this book through most of it and just kept thinking, there are so many REAL bands that I'd love to read about, why waste time with this made-up band?? I know. Why read fiction then? It made no sense, but I was having a hard time with it. Then I slowly got into the characters and realized this wasn't just about a band but about life and love and relationships and how messy it all is, sometimes of our own making.
Why can't I give this book 10 stars??
