Coraline

This edition of New York Times bestselling and Newbery Medal-winning author Neil Gaiman’s modern classic, Coraline—also an Academy Award-nominated film—is enriched with a foreword from the author, a reader's guide, and more.

"Coraline discovered the door a little while after they moved into the house...."

When Coraline steps through a door to find another house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous.

But there's another mother there, and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.

Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and courage if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.

Neil Gaiman's Coraline is a can't-miss classic that enthralls readers age 8 to 12 but also adults who enjoy a perfect smart spooky read.

Creepy, yet very comforting. I grew up watching the movie for the enjoyment, to fall asleep to, for background noise. This is one of my comfort movies. To read the book is entirely similar, but different story. The story telling, the descriptiveness was so jarring. I saw Other Mother, I smelt Other Mother, I felt Coraline's fear. What a remarkable novel. Dare I say, I wished they included every horror detail in the movie.

Pretty good. Sometimes the wording was a bit awkward to read. I would have liked a sequel.

Thank you, thank you, Mr. Gaiman. This has opened my eyes to something that Coraline was not seeing in her own little world and in her ordinary everyday life. The journey she took in the parody or the other world was immensely emotional, dark, and a bit eerie but it was also quite saddening. This made me think about my own life and how I too can change my perspective on the simplest things. Amazing work!

QUOTES (My takeaways!)
• "Because when you're scared but you still do it anyway, that's brave." - Coraline Jones
• "It is astonishing just how much of what we can be tied to the beds we wake up in in the morning, and it I astonishing how fragile that can be." - Neil Gaiman
• "Sharper than a serpent's tooth is a daughter's ingratitude." - The Other Mother
• That being brave didn't mean you weren't scared. Being brave meant you were scared, really scared, badly scared, and you did the right thing anyway." - Neil Gaiman
• "That's what I said." - these characters don't like repeating themselves!
