Caught Up: An Into Darkness Novel (Into Darkness Series)

Book Two in the #1 New York Times and instant USA TODAY bestselling series!
From the viral TikTok author of the stalker romcom, Lights Out, comes Navessa Allen’s second book in bestselling The Into Darkness Series, upping the ante with voyeurism and play club kink.
I wanted this woman, and I was a man who always got what he wanted.
Nico “Junior” Trocci knows Lauren Marchetti is off limits. She is sweetness and laughter, whereas Junior exists in a world of violence and depravity. Men like him don’t get to have women like her. It’s why he pushed her away back in high school and kept his distance ever since.
But when Junior looks Lauren up online, he discovers the shy, bookish girl he remembers is gone. In her place is a strikingly beautiful woman whose social media is filled with scantily clad pictures of herself and a connection to a nearby play club. Junior’s innocent curiosity quickly turns into a dark obsession. Watching Lauren from a distance isn’t enough; he needs to make her his.
He’s ruthless; a walking red flag. Good thing red is my favorite color.
Lauren is intrigued by the mystery man who keeps showing up at her club, who tempts her white-hot desires. But as their flirty online messages stir up a deeper form of connection, Lauren worries she’s developing real feelings for this brooding stranger. As their combined desire ratchets up to a breaking point, who will seduce who?
Tropes: Stalker romance / Morally grey MMC / Masked stalker / He falls first / Kink friendly / Second chance romance / Found family / Touch her and die

I am amazed that I could like this one as much as the 1st one (Lights Out). It's not often you see an author use different POVs so well and still slide in old characters smoothly. There is no doubt that book one is in the same world and town as the last book, even with new main characters. Love that we get to see the main characters from the 1st book and get an update on their lives, and not just a peek. They pop up several times...woven in nicely.
I have no regrets with this read, and I can't wait to grab the physical copy for my library 🥰😈. This is not for children! Definitely for my SMUT LOVERS! Looking for a morally grey bad ass to protect your heart and give you the space to be unapologetically you....JUNIOR is your guy!!! Didn't think I could love another after JOSH. I was soooo wrong! Parts had me giggling like crazy while washing the dishes and had my husband looking like I was crazy 😅

I actually liked that this was different than the first. More serious. Really enjoyed the sex worker aspect and some of the difficulties they face. And I really loved the sex club. I wish there were more clubs that were high class and sophisticated like this one was. And Nick was Dark, but protective. Can't wait for the next one
Not nearly as entertaining as Lights Out, but still enjoyable.
Sorry - my first DNF (50 percent through but it is not getting better for me) - I just had trouble with this one - nothing like book 1. - even though I like Junior - The narration and pronouns were annoying - sorry - not sorry - I don’t want to listen to confusing pronouns and it the banter from the first book was missing here.
I love steamy and smutty but this was just ick to the 10th degree. I do not care enough about these characters to finish.
I actually did complete 70 percent of it and skipped through most of the ICK parts but again - this was just not my jam - could have done without the explicit Velvet Club and side characters that added zero value to the story. I only liked Junior - not a fan of Lauren’s character -

Finished my Caught Up reread last night and yep—it’s still that good. Sure, the first few chapters have me mourning that it wasn’t another Josh story, but by the time Nico walks into that voyeur room nobody is thinking about Lights Out. Let's just say there wasn't room for Josh when we heard about the lack of space in Nico's pants on that couch.
I love when authors take something taboo and make it feel beautifully normal. Shoutout to the sex workers living their dream and a double shoutout to my baby sister for the signed book plate!
