A true compilation of the story of black womenhood. This book pulled at every emotion. Very relatable
I enjoyed the book for the most part, but the main character got on my nerves……many times….tho, I want to know what the next chapter of her life is like.
There was a love/hate relationship with this book. Tabbitha is extremely naive in most things and she didn't recognize her privilege. There were several times where I wanted to slap her to get her back to reality but it probably wouldn't have worked because she would have absolutely no idea why I did it. This is to say that Tabby is a very realistic friend who has faults but is always growing. I do recommend this book to Black women as there are some sections that you will just start crying in sympathy and joy and other parts you will just get mad with.
I definitely felt like this was a good read. As you go through the journey with Tabitha Walker you may find some very relatable moments if not with her you may have with her friends, or family. As a black woman we go through so much and in this book she definitely calls the roll with issues as you go through the book. Looking forward to completing these series.
It took me over a month to read this book, and not out of lack of consistency, but out of boredom. The title draws you in for sure but In the beginning I felt it took so long to reach the plot and get intriguing. SPOILER ALERT: it actually wasn’t until her first fight with Marc that I remotely even felt connected with Tabitha. I felt like finally this a black woman who stands up for herself and her boundaries. Towards the end there were a lot of fillers even the fights and issues with her friends just seemed a little unwarranted. These are thirty+ year old women not twenty year olds who can just fall out because of any thing. I also can’t say i’m surprised at the way it ended and with what happened to her grandmother. I feel like the entire story led us to that, we learned about her illness , we saw the tale signs of her diagnosis with her feet swelling, I just found the ending to be completely cliché. I know it’s to show us the importance of time and the things that should matter but Tabitha saw her grandmother faithfully every saturday and then the one time she doesn’t, she’s gone ? It was a bit much. The last sentence at the end of the book will be what gets me to read the next one in the series.
