Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.

Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.

Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed.

From bestselling author B.A. Paris comes the gripping thriller and international phenomenon Behind Closed Doors.

To start, I want to say I really can’t explain why I disliked this book, I just know I did. It was well written and very suspenseful but it was highly predictable to me. I love thrillers and I’ve read enough of them to know there is a formula and that doesn’t bother me, but this one felt almost overdone. I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters and I saw through the facade right away so I could tell what direction the story was headed. I wasn’t a big fan of the structure of the story but I did appreciate things being hidden, even if I could figure out what was happening. It is a good book that I can see why readers would like it, it just wasn’t my favorite.

This psychological thriller was fast paced for the first two thirds. Then parts of the story became quite unbelievable to me. Generally a fun read.

Wow. Just- wow. When I first started this book, it disturbed me so much that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to finish it. I’m so glad I did. This was one of the most unique and anxiety- causing books I’ve read in a long time. I won’t give any spoilers away but I will say one thing- animal lovers beware, there may be a trigger for you in this book as there was for me. However, I got past it and finished the book and I’m so glad that I did. An emotional, heart wrenching story, about survival and fear, this book will make you second guess every single person you meet- and rightfully so. This book reminds us that you never know what secrets someone can be hiding.

This is a book that you’ll want to read in no more than 2 or 3 sittings because once you get into the story you can’t put it down. Definitely triggers for abuse but I think the author deals with the heavy topics tactfully.

I had to skip the middle because I knew what was coming with the gift Jack gave her.
