He's a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You're hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You'd like to get to know Grace better. But it's difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable. Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn't work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows. Some might wonder what's really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed. From bestselling author B.A. Paris comes the gripping thriller and international phenomenon Behind Closed Doors.BUY THE BOOK

Wow. Just- wow. When I first started this book, it disturbed me so much that I wasnât sure if I wanted to finish it. Iâm so glad I did. This was one of the most unique and anxiety- causing books Iâve read in a long time. I wonât give any spoilers away but I will say one thing- animal lovers beware, there may be a trigger for you in this book as there was for me. However, I got past it and finished the book and Iâm so glad that I did. An emotional, heart wrenching story, about survival and fear, this book will make you second guess every single person you meet- and rightfully so. This book reminds us that you never know what secrets someone can be hiding.
Warning the whole topic of my review is the main topic of this book, kinda.
I remember in one of my psychology classes, an assignment to go observe, speak to, and hear out domestic abuse victims. (all who were women in my case) Many stories were re-occurring the trust that these women instilled in their significant others, and how shattered they felt.
One woman's story stuck out to me the most and reading this books she came to mind. The woman had said that she had always mocked the woman that stayed in abusive relationships, and she had always said she'd rather be in a non-physical abuse relationship, meaning she rather hear the abuse, mental and psychological abuse. She was so sure she could not bear the bruises and cuts. And fate had brought her to such a predicament.
Which brings me to this book, how can someone ever be trapped in such a way? Where you have lost hope and your fight, and feel as if there is no way out. This monster of a person trapped Grace, with his charm he tricked her into a marriage, to only take advantage of her life's situation against her and plan for such unspeakable acts.
It was such a disturbing read, but so well written. So many details, and Grace's thought process so meticulously splayed out. I felt it was so easy to sympathize with her decisions, even though I kept screaming, my own agenda for her to keep fighting.
But that's the thing with these situations, you just never know how you will react if you are put in such a predicament.
My heart goes out to women in such predicaments because this story although fiction, it might be eerily true to many.
