Wow! Amazing! I am a huge Beauty and the Beast fan. It’s my favorite movie in the entire world. Has been since forever. While there was a lot to love there were some things I wasn’t too hip with. First, I did like how D’Arque was the main villain instead of Gaston. It makes sense in all honesty! And making him one of the friends? Genius! However, it was sad that we had to wait until the end for it to happen. The author also toned down Gaston a bit. He’s driven mad by jealousy to kill the Beast. Now he stabbed a very bad man and everyone said, “Can’t believe this. That was a terrible thing you did Gaston.” One thing I’ve noticed so far with these books is that there’s this HUGE buildup for the finale, to only have it feel rushed. I wanted something more to happen with the Beast and the fear of him being stuck in a monstrous form. Which brings me to my final issue, him staying in that form. Yes, I’m proud of him saying to Rosalind to set the servants free instead. It would have been amazing if we got something similar to the movie where Belle admits her feelings for him, causing him to turn back into a human. The ending makes me sad because it kind of ends on a cliffhanger. They’re told to find more charmante and bring them back. How will they find them? Will people accept a beast roaming in public? How will this grow the relationship between Belle and Beast? Could a different charmante change him back? This book alone could easily be its own series, and I hope that maybe one day we get some closure on it. Overall, I loved this book. The twist was so simple and yet totally changed the story. It even answered some questions that I think we all have about the movie. And honestly? You could even apply some of those answers to the movie and it’d probably work. It took 3 books for this series to start to find its flow, but I have a good feeling that there’s nowhere to go but up from here.
I really liked this one. If this was how the movie was it would have made a lot more sense to me growing up.
