All Good People Here: A Novel

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - In the propulsive debut novel from the host of the #1 true crime podcast Crime Junkie, a journalist uncovers her hometown's dark secrets when she becomes obsessed with the unsolved murder of her childhood neighbor--and the disappearance of another girl twenty years later.

ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: PopSugar

You can't ever know for sure what happens behind closed doors.

Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January--and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she's always been haunted by the feeling that it could've been her. And the worst part is, January's killer has never been brought to justice.

When Margot returns home to help care for her uncle after he is diagnosed with early-onset dementia, she feels like she's walked into a time capsule. Wakarusa is exactly how she remembers--genial, stifled, secretive. Then news breaks about five-year-old Natalie Clark from the next town over, who's gone missing under circumstances eerily similar to January's. With all the old feelings rushing back, Margot vows to find Natalie and to solve January's murder once and for all.

But the police, Natalie's family, the townspeople--they all seem to be hiding something. And the deeper Margot digs into Natalie's disappearance, the more resistance she encounters, and the colder January's case feels. Could January's killer still be out there? Is it the same person who took Natalie? And what will it cost to finally discover what truly happened that night twenty years ago?

Twisty, chilling, and intense, All Good People Here is a searing tale that asks: What are your neighbors capable of when they think no one is watching?

Loved it throughout, but seemed incomplete:( I need an ending… or another book.

I have a weird love for true crime podcasts so this was a must read as a Crime Junkie, and I was not disappointed! I was rivoted by this story. The split POVs kept me on my toes and had me trying to figure out who committed the crimes just right alongside Margot. By the end of the book I was seriously wishing there's going to be a sequel!

January Jacob’s case was infamous when she was found murdered and left in a ditch at the age of six. Margot was one of Januarys closest friends/neighbors being the same age at the time of Januarys death. It’s now 20 years later and Margot has returned to take care of her ill Uncle. The case of her friend’s murder has never left her mind, and is only brought more to the surface when an another little girl named Natalie Clark goes missing from a town close by called Nappanee. Having been recently fired from her job Margot decides to give all her free time to solving Natalie Clark’s case and re-examining the murder of her friend. Determined, Margot will use anything she can to make it all come together. This book was better than I could have imagined. Just when I thought I knew what what’s going on and who had done it, something new would come up and completely put my suspicions out the window. I was throughly surprised with how many twists and turns there were, and how many times I felt left hanging and needed to know what happened next. I was very excited when I heard this book was coming out. I am an avid listener of Ashley Flowers podcast Crime Junkies and always wondered where she was going to take this novel. I am so happy that I finally got around to reading it. I was not disappointed to say the least. And will be reading any more novels that she brings out! I think this read is great if you love mystery and who done it centered in a small town kind of trope. I also think it would be a good book for those looking to start into this genre as it’s a quick and short read but is packed with so much!

Simple but effective. Ashley Flowers gets to the point, if not a tad on the nose, but a quick easy read that is worth your time!
