A Touch of Malice (Hades x Persephone Saga, 5)

The next installment in the Hades and Persephone story from bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair. Discover the world of New Athens and the Greek gods in a series that readers are calling "hopelessly addictive."

"I am not sure who you think I am," she said. "But let me be clear--I am Persephone, future Queen of the Underworld, Lady of Your Fate--may you come to dread my presence."

Persephone and Hades are engaged. In retaliation, Demeter summons a snowstorm that cripples New Greece, and refuses to lift the blizzard unless her daughter calls off her engagement. When the Olympians intervene, Persephone finds her future in the hands of ancient gods, and they are divided. Do they allow Persephone to marry Hades and go to war with Demeter, or prohibit their union and take up arms against the God of the Dead?

Nothing is certain but the promise of war.

I binged this book all day in preparation for [b:A Touch of Chaos|56670031|A Touch of Chaos (Hades x Persephone Saga, #4)|Scarlett St. Clair|https:i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1610664026l/56670031._SY75_.jpg|88569919]

I will admit I went into this book nervous. While I liked [b:A Touch of Ruin|53143734|A Touch of Ruin (Hades x Persephone Saga, #2)|Scarlett St. Clair|https:i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1611949990l/53143734._SY75_.jpg|73358385], the "I grew up in a glass box" excuse for stupid decisions made me nervous. It would just be "her thing."

Persephone is finding herself, and I love her personal growth in this book! I am glad this was not the end of this series and that we got one more book.

Hermes, as always is an amazing character that I adore. His loyalty in this book is unparalleled.

The plotline for this book is very straightforward and clear and I ate it up/

The story is mostly told through Persephone's eyes, so it is more so how she sees and experiences the world, sometimes perspective can warp a character. I think that is what happened to Hades in this book. I was waiting for twist, it was worth the wait. The slow build of the story was okay and I normally hate cliff hangers but I am okay with this one. I can't wait to read Hades experiences in book 6.

Persephones POV is still hard for me to get through. Found myself wanting to get back to the action and story line throughout this book.

This book was my "I just want my babies to be happy but bad things keep happening". The character development in this was really good, I enjoyed Hades and Persephone's growth both as individuals and in their relationship. I appreciate that instead of brushing Persephone's trauma from the last book under the rug, it is explored in this. There's still a ton going on so there isn't a lot of time devoted to it, but I still appreciate that it wasn't just tossed off to the side. These cliffhanger endings in this series are slow torture, especially considering the next one isn't out until later this year I believe.

Very sexy book! Their relationship is so passionate and heavy. Wow. Great story line as well. Couldn't stop listening once I started. Can't wait for the next one!
