Unveiling the Gems from “A New Earth” I recently read “New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle, a fascinating spiritual guidebook, focusing on the concept of “ego” and how it effects our lives.Through this book Eckhart tries to initiate the awakening process in the reader. Here are my top takeaways: 1. Takeaway 1: “The ego is the main cause of most of world’s problems, such as war, greed and environmental destruction.” This is an invitation to reflect on our own actions and to try to be more mindful in our interactions. 2. Takeaway 2: “Whatever you think people are withholding from you (appreciation, care…), give it to them.” 3. Takeaway 3: “By transcending our egos and awakening to a new level of consciousness, we can create a better world for ourselves and for future generation.” All of us need to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. 4. Takeaway 4: “This too will pass: being detached doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy the good that the world has to offer.” The author encourage us to stay grounded during challenging times and to appreciate the good times without becoming overly attached to them. 5. Takeaway 5: “The three modalities of awakened doing are: acceptance, enjoyment and enthusiasm.” Acceptance: whatever you cannot enjoy doing, at least accept it. Enjoyment: when you make the present moment instead of past and future, the focal point of your life, your ability to enjoy what you do, and with it the quality of your life increases dramatically. Enthusiasm: sustained enthusiasm brings into existence a wave of creative energy, and all you have to do then, is “ride the wave” .” 6. Takeaway 6: “All truly successful action comes out of that field of alert attention, rather than from ego and conditioned, unconscious thinking.” This has made me realize the importance of mindfulness and being present in the moment. 7. Takeaway 7: “Success is anything other than a successful present, giving a sense of quality in what you do, ever the most simple action.” This has encouraged me to find joy and fulfillment in the present moment. 8. Takeaway 8: “When you become comfortable with uncertainty, infinite possibilities open up in your life”. This is an invitation to embrace change and uncertainty, and to see them as opportunities for growth and learning. 9. Takeaway 9: “With forgiveness, your victim identity dissolves, and your true power emerges.” 10. Takeaway 10: “Cooperation is alien to the ego: the ego demands personal recognition, and wastes energy in resentment if it doesn’t get enough.” This is a reminder of the importance of teamwork and cooperation.” One insight that particularly resonated with me was how being yourself can be empowering, and how much emotion, a little mental concept like “My” or “I” can generate. The concept of ownership is a fiction created by the ego to give itself solidity and permanency. This should make us reflect on our own sense of self and has to inspire us to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. What are your thoughts on these insights? Do you agree with Eckhart? 😊 #BookReview #Mindfulness#PersonalDevelopment# ReadingCommunity
