The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Celebrating 25 Years as a New York Times Bestseller -- Over 16 Million Copies Sold
It's no wonder that The Power of Now has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 foreign languages. Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces readers to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind. He awakens readers to their role as a creator of pain and shows them how to have a pain-free identity by living fully in the present. The journey is thrilling, and along the way, the author shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being, "the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death." Featuring a new preface by the author, this paperback shows that only after regaining awareness of Being, liberated from Mind and intensely in the Now, is there Enlightenment.

If you can power through the challenge of tone of the author, I find this to be an enlightening read. Not in a spiritual awakening kind of way but more in personal growth, emotional healing and mindfulness. His narrative can come across as he is speaking down to the reader (kindly of preachy), which can detract from the reader, especially one new to some of these concepts. Whether it is building tolerance, patience, overcoming or confronting trauma; this book offers the mental framework of realigning one's mindset. I choose this book hoping to gain a methodology on mediation but found myself pleasantly surprised by all the other valuable insights of the book. It is the type of book I would read again in the future to see what new knowledge I would pick up after processing some of the lessons.
What I loved: The idea that I can escape from all pain by being focused on the present, the multiple quotes I derived from this book to help me in my daily life.
What I didnât enjoy: A man trying to tell a woman how to âend her pain of menstruation,â the notion that developing a sense of identity based on my queerness is a trap dictated by roles and games, the book was repetitive.

Absolute must read! This is my favorite non-fiction book! Wonderful reminder of what really and truly matters most in our lives and the power of being present and grateful.
This book was incredibly transformative for me. It touches on concepts that many of us ponder and contemplate over. It is essentially a comprehensive guide to managing the subconscious.
