A Game of Retribution (Hades x Persephone Saga, 4)

Become enchanted by the fantasy world of gods and mortals in bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair's reimagined New Greece. Readers are "hopelessly addicted" to the story of Hades and Persephone.

Hades, God of the Dead, does not take sides or bend the rules. He makes no exceptions to these values--not for god or mortal, even his lover, Persephone, Goddess of Spring.

Usually, fear prevents retaliation.

But not this time.

When Hera, Goddess of Women, approaches Hades with a plan to overthrow Zeus, he declines to offer help. As punishment, Hera sentences Hades to perform a series of labors. Between killing mythical monsters and recovering deadly stolen artifacts, each feat seems more impossible than the last and draws his attention away from Persephone--whose own tragedy has left her questioning whether she can be Queen of the Underworld.

Can Hades maintain the balance he craves?

This book was harder for me to get through. I like seeing what Hades is up to away from Persephone but rehashing the conversations and sex scenes grows tiresome. And plus going through loaing Lexa all over again was hard. Hermes + Hades friendship is my favorite though. "Daddy Death" haha

I could not finish. For the most part it’s a good story line but I got tired of rereading the same timeline as the previous book. I feel like she could have somehow combined the perspectives of the two a bit better.

Daddy Death is carrying the series, for me. All of the challenges and obstacles are happening around this love story and Persephone has no clue. Hades is a walking red flag 🚩but hey this is isnt real so I fully support him destroying the world for his lover. The story is building and I can't wait to see what side all the Gods and Goddesses take up.

I didn’t love A Touch of Ruin so it’s no surprise I didn’t love this book either. Both were kind of boring, but I like this storyline so much I pushed through.

I'm getting more invested in the plot. But I still think Persephone is annoying. So I enjoyed maybe 60% of the book.
