Welcome to the Zionist Girls Read bookclub! We are a community of empowered women who stand in solidarity with the Jewish community & are interested in learning more about Israeli history/culture.

We meet the last Tuesday of every month at 8:30 PM EST via Zoom. 

About Us

If you're anything like me, you've been striving to educate yourself as much as possible about the I/P conflict, especially since Oct 7 and the surge of xenophobic and antisemitic hatred that's followed. You may also feel more isolated from communities you once found solidarity in. 

After months of reading up on Israeli history on my own, I decided to combine some of my favorite things—books, Israel, and a strong community of like-minded women—into a virtual book club to connect with other women interested in learning more about Israeli history and culture. I'm not an expert, but I love to learn!

This is an inclusive space for women of all backgrounds, whether Jewish or not, who consider themselves allies to Jews around the world. Join us for thoughtful discussions and great company!

Community Rules & Guidelines

1. Supportive Zionist Community ✡️

This is a safe space for those who believe that Jewish people have a right to dignity and self-determination in their indigenous homeland of Israel; i.e, Zionists. If you don't believe in Israel's right to exist, this book club isn't for you.

2. Ladies Only! 🌟

This is a welcoming and inclusive space for all women. We celebrate diversity and encourage everyone to be themselves! Here, we come together to connect, learn, laugh, and uplift each other in a supportive and empowering environment. It's all about fostering sisterhood and celebrating the strength of women supporting women! 💁‍♀️💕

3. Read at Your Own Pace 📚

No pressure to read every book or attend every meeting. Join us whenever you can, even if you haven't finished the book!

4. Respect and Kindness ❤️

Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Xenophobia, Islamophobia, homophobia, racism, antisemitism, or any form of hate will not be tolerated. Trolls will be banned.

5. Listen and Learn 🧠

This is a safe space to center Jewish pain and discuss Jewish issues. We're here to learn from each other and grow together.

6. Fun and Optional 🎉

This book club is for fun and entirely optional. Come to meetings because you want to, and enjoy the discussions without any stress.

7. Inclusive Discussions 🌍

Within Zionism, there's room for diverse opinions about the state, its government, and its relationship with Palestinians. This is where respectful engagement and discussion is welcome, even with differing viewpoints.

8. Zoom 🔒

To avoid trolls, I’ll send the Zoom passcode privately to genuine members. I'll do my best to screen participants.

9. Breakout Rooms 🗣️

If more than 15 people join a meeting, we'll split into private breakout rooms. Everyone will get discussion questions beforehand.

10. Regular Monthly Meetings 🗓️

We meet on the last Tuesday of every month at 8:30 PM. If there's a holiday or conflict, I'll reschedule and let you know in advance.

11. Book Selections 📖

I'll choose the books, but suggestions are always welcome! Feel free to share your ideas.

12. Stay Updated 📨

I’ll let everyone know the book titles ahead of time. Keep an eye on your messages for updates and meeting details.
