About Wine about books
I’m new to forming a formal book club but want to start out with a few ideas and guidelines. I’m open to constructive feedback!
General information about club meetings
Frequency: every 4-6 weeks
Where: Whomever is the lead for the meeting chooses location. Feel free to be as casual as just having people over for drinks/snacks at your home all the way to planning a themed party or a potluck style meal. Meeting up elsewhere (ie: restaurant, coffee shop, bar, winery) or even planning an event (pumpkin patch, pontoon/boat, etc) is fine. Your meeting, your pick. Keep it simple or go crazy. Either way, I’m here for it.
How do we pick meeting lead: We can draw names to see who will lead upcoming club meetings
Club leader: If you decide to be a leader and get your name drawn, you’re in charge! Please pick what you want to do and where.
Basic rules:
How do we choose the book for each round? People can suggest books and we’ll hold a vote. If there’s ties, admin will choose from the two. We’ll try and have books picked out a few months in advance to give people a heads up.
Book rules: Try and pick books 400 pages or less so it’s easier for people to get them read before the club meeting. If we all decide on a long book, we may need to push our meeting back a bit to give folks time to get the book finished. Any genre is fine, spicy or not. There's a bunch of audio listeners out there so bonus points if the book is available to listen to.
Do I have to read the book? No, you can skip and still show up for social hour. This is just for fun and sometimes life happens or you don’t like the choice.
Goals of this book club: The main goal is to have fun and gossip about books. I want people to all have a say in the book choices and what we do. There will be some activities or books that some won’t like and that’s fine. We’re all into different things. Always feel like you’re welcome to come and have fun.
