About The Wrong Section Reading Society
About us
The Wrong Section Reading Society was founded by a small group of friends with interests in art, music, and technology who've grown tired of reading in our own lanes. We started this club to open the conversation up to new voices, meet new friends, and find books in the sections we don't normally visit.
What we read
No rules. Well, okay. Anything from the last two hundred years, but mainly contemporary. Fiction or non-fiction, but mainly fiction. Books that are well-written, thought-provoking, or thoroughly entertaining — ideally all three, but sometimes trash is worth it.
We pick across genres. One month might be literary fiction, the next a thriller, the next a romance. The point is to wander somewhere new together, and to come back with something to say.
How it works
We meet monthly, in person, somewhere between Seattle and Northgate (a fixed location has yet to emerge). Each month we'll pick a theme and poll for a choice.
Who's welcome
Everyone. All genders, all backgrounds, all reading histories. We're in it for the in-person meetings, but come and just listen if that's your speed. The only thing we ask is that you'll try reading books you wouldn't have picked yourself.
