The Mixed Shelf is an online book club built for curious readers who don’t stick to just one genre. From literary fiction to fantasy, memoirs to thrillers, the club celebrates variety! Members join discussions, share recommendations, and explore monthly reads together in a relaxed, welcoming space. Most genres rotate throughout the year, with a surprise "Blind Date with a Book" in June & the New York Times Bestsellers in December! There’s no pressure to finish everything or read every book - just a shared interest in discovering stories, exchanging perspectives, and broadening reading tastes. Whether you’re a fast reader or someone who reads slowly between busy days, The Mixed Shelf is designed to feel accessible, social, and flexible. It’s less about rules and more about connection through books that don’t all look or feel the same. Every month is a new adventure - the rotating monthly schedule is listed below:

Monthly Polls will be posted at the beginning of the month for the upcoming month to vote on the books everyone wants to read. The book with the most votes will be read for that month (however, you can read none, a few, or all - it's up to you). Occasional end-of-month discussions will be held for the chosen book—If you choose to read a different book that month, you're more than welcome to share your thoughts and recommend it to the group!
