About The Liberation Library

Our project, in partnership with LittleFreeLibrary.org, aims to establish a Little Free Library in Prince William County, filled with books celebrating African American culture, history, and contributions. This initiative, called the Liberation Library, addresses issues of diversity and equity, providing a platform for inclusive education and critical discussions on race, class, and gender.

The core aspects of Liberation Library are:

  1. Setting up book drop/receptacles in various locations, stocked with books from our reading list.
  2. Hosting monthly meetings where participants select and discuss a book as a group.

Through Liberation Library, we aim to foster an appreciation for African American history, promote a love of learning, educate on social issues, and empower our community to envision and create a better future.

"History...is not merely something to be read. It is literally present in all that we do, shaping our frames of reference, identities, and aspirations."
