About The Fellowship of the Unfinished Projects and Other Noble Crafts

We love the rich worlds these authors create with words -- and in this club, we bring them to life with arts and crafts. Instead of talking about the book, we create about it (talking is also welcome, of course!). Paint your favorite scene, create a mixed media portrait of a character, fashion a relic from the story, make a model of that haunted house, or craft your unique wand or potion bottle. Think:

  • collage a map of Aubry Tourvel's underground library (A Short Walk through a Wide World)
  • decorate a Cleff key (Foundryside)
  • design Persephone's underworld flower crown (A Touch of Darkness, or, you know, mythology in general), or
  • if you're feeling a little torn these days, depict Persephone's world that's half flowers and half shadows

No arts-and-crafts experience required. We meet at CRAFT, which provides all supplies and tools (and takes care of the crafty mess). CRAFT uses sliding-scale pricing, and we can bring our own snacks and drinks so there's no pressure to order coffee or wine.

Do I have to finish the book to come?

Nope. Come even if you’re partway through (or didn’t read at all). The crafting is inspired by the book, but you’ll still enjoy the vibe!

Do I need to bring my craft supplies?  CRAFT has so much in their crafting buffet! It's all inclusive! You are welcome to bring any supplies you can't craft without (your lucky scissors, that special fabric for your cape, etc.). You can even bring your book to decorate.

Do I have to make something directly tied to the book?

Not at all. We’ll suggest ideas (paint a scene, collage a character, invent an object within the magical system), but you’re free to follow your own inspiration. And of course we each read through our own lens; if this book brought up something else for you and you want to art about it, do it!

How much does it cost?

We meet at CRAFT, which uses sliding-scale pricing for its Open Crafting buffet. Your visit covers all supplies, tools, and cleanup. The book club is free, and just like if we met at a cafe, we'd encourage everyone to purchase a drink or snack, at CRAFT you pay for the crafting but can bring snacks and drinks.

How often do you meet?

Once a month. Each meeting is a standalone drop-in, just come!

How do I sign up?

Join the club on here to get notified of dates and books. Then just show up at CRAFT.
