Knowledge is Power: Your gonna learn today
Elijah Muhammad stressed the importance of knowing oneself and not depending on others, stating, "First, my people must be taught the knowledge of self" and “No nation will ever respect us as long as we beg for that which we can do for ourselves". He encouraged Black people to support Black-owned businesses rather than spending with "natural enemies".
While Black Americans have long endured the profound effects of anti-Black discrimination, articulating and substantiating its existence and impact has often proven challenging, especially to an American public that believes such discrimination is a relic of the past. Join us on a transformative journey to unravel decades of misrepresentation & brainwashing as we delve into the complexities of Black history. This exploration will involve critically examining the historical narratives that shape perceptions, as well as the enduring impact of systemic oppression, cultural contributions, and resilience. By engaging with primary sources, personal stories, scholarly works, and non-fiction & fiction story telling by black authors we can dismantle misconceptions and illuminate the rich heritage and achievements of Black communities. Let the pages of our monthly book selections guide you towards newfound understanding of who we are as African-Americans, reclaiming our power, and more importantly learning to truly love ourselves and our communities. It's time to re-imagine how we see ourselves and our communities to live the life we were originally destined to live before we were enslaved & oppressed. Leave the world of pain, suffering and lose. Let's envision a new world like Wakanda, where everybody eats and THRIVES. THIS IS THE BLUE PRINT.
“Let us with one determination create in our minds today the conditions of the next 50 years.” - Marcus Mosiah Garvey
