About Stillness and Subtext
Stillness & Subtext will be a book-club that is cozy, and discussion-based for readers that are drawn to quiet, intelligent literature that has heaps of meaning beneath the surface. That is not to say we will constantly be reading Shakespeare and difficult authors, instead we will read novels by Margaret Atwood, Jhumpa Lahiri, Ottessa Moshfegh, Elena Ferrante, Hanya Yanguerra, and way more.
The books we will read are not meant to be hard, they are meant to be understood and comfy, cozy, and easy; nonetheless they will be thought provoking and emotionally complex. They will explore identity, discomfort, and all the contradictions that come with being human.
Alongside each book, members will also receive thoughtfully created digital art, guides, and more that are designed to encourage reflection, connection, and comfort.
This club is rooted in the belief that literature can help us find ourselves, especially when we are young and still becoming. We welcome bools that wrestle with difficult or imperfect ideas, not to provide answers, but to offer perspective and guidance.
Join us for slow reading, shared conversation, and allowing stories to shape how we all understand our own lives.
