New to Silent Book Club? We are so excited for you to join us, here are some helpful tips!

What should I bring?

Whatever YOU want to read – that’s a big part of the fun of SBC! Other helpful items for your own comfort but personal preference: book lights and headphones/earplugs.

Is it REALLY silent?

A gathering of readers brings down the noise level, but as we meet at a restaurant there will be background noise and non-readers around, so not really silent. People will be moving around, ordering more food and drinks, using the restroom, etc…this is where those headphones come in handy for some people!

If you find it hard to concentrate in a public setting, it can be helpful to bring a magazine or some other light reading as you figure out what works for you.

Nervous to come solo?

Don’t be! While some attend with partners or friends, you will be sharing space with other readers and you will find a cozy and welcoming environment to meet other bookish pals – when you arrive, your hosts will be greeting you and you can find us by looking for all the books and e-readers on the table haha!
