About Resistance Readers
Resistance Readers is a book club that takes a slow, thoughtful journey through literature and media — including artwork, film, and music — exploring the history, theory, and practice of nonviolent civil resistance, organizing, and campaigning.
Our reading list has included Erica Chenoweth's Civil Resistance: What Everyone Should Know and Marshall Ganz's People, Power, Change: Organizing for Democratic Renewal.
We are currently working through How to Save a Constitutional Democracy by Tom Ginsburg and Aziz Z. Huq, and developing a discussion guide as we go.
From time to time, we set aside our current text to engage with timely topics through discussion-based, interactive sessions.
We are guided in spirit by the First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Newcomers are always welcome — no prior reading required.
