About Be the Village

The books we will read and discuss will be focused on community and kindness. This will be a casual book discussion. Listen to audio, read the book, watch a YouTube video of the author talking about the book.

It doesn't matter how you get the information! It is more important that you come! YOU MATTER to the KINDNESS MOVEMENT!

You're welcome to come (even if you are not able to read the book), as we will be having a social engagement that we can learn how to apply the information in our own lives.

The meeting will last 1 hour. We will do brief 1 minute introductions at the beginning. At the end of the meeting we will close with what you are grateful for. If you need to come in late or leave early that is fine.

A simple act of kindness activity will be given to you and the individual activity should be able to be done in as little as 5-15 minutes at your leisure between the meetings. I realize that time is limited, and even if you don't get around to doing the activity, it doesn't matter! JUST COME BACK!

Why Come To The Kindness Social Engagement Book Club?

In a world that seems to be moving at rocket speed, and connection is easier than it's ever been, why are we the loneliness generation?

It doesn't need to be this way! It can start with YOU and produce a ripple effect that multiplies endlessly. Just a warm smile to a stranger can change the trajectory of their day. It is in the quiet moments that we remember the people that believed in us and that gave us the courage we needed that day. Kindness matters and always wins!

Community has always been such a valuable resource for individuals.

It needs to be a SAFE community that has LOVE and genuine CARE.

It needs to operate on a VALUE system of KINDNESS and COMPASSION. It needs to be free from harmful judgement.

What we say to others matters!

Why call a friend or ask a neighbor a question when you can just Google it? It's almost like people feel that it's an imposition to ask someone they know for help. That is what has changed today. We need to remember the intention of being human is to connect. We as a society are hurting, our kids are hurting, and it is evident that the way we are doing things is not working. I believe in the kindness movement but have been too afraid to do anything about it on a larger scale. I've ignored this nagging need to form a community for too long. It has become evident to those that know me and to myself that I can no longer ignore this. There are so many ideas I want to share with you and so many things I know that I will learn from you. Being kind means being vulnerable but once you try it you will not want to stop because it gives you back the biggest gift. It's a feeling that money can't buy. Being kind feels so good!

As I prepare to launch this BE THE VILLAGE book club and social engagement it will take me a moment to figure it all out but I am so excited that you will be joining me. The village starts with YOU!

The kindness movement doesn't care where you were born.

The kindness movement doesn't care if your 600 pounds or 90 pounds.

The kindness movement doesn't care if you have disabilities.

The kindness movement doesn't care what color your skin is.

The kindness movement doesn't care about how you identify.

The kindness movement doesn't care about if you have $1 or a million.

The kindness movement doesn't care if you have addictions.

The kindness movement doesn't care if you feel broken sometimes

YOU are HUMAN and that is what the KINDNESS MOVEMENT cares about!
