About OFF THE PAGE - Cle&Akr Ladies Book Club
Book Club Guidelines
Introduction
The goal of our book club is to create a relaxed and enjoyable space to connect, share ideas, and have thoughtful conversations. We want everyone to feel comfortable contributing, whether you read every page or just part of the book. The focus is on community, curiosity, and good conversation—not perfection.
Participation and Engagement
We want everyone to be an active part of the group. Members are encouraged to read the monthly book and take part in discussions, even if they didn’t finish. Missing a meeting or two is completely fine, but if someone doesn’t attend or participate for 3 consecutive months, they’ll be kindly asked of their continued interest and removed from the group after the 6th month to make room for new, active members.
During discussions, everyone should have a chance to share their thoughts. Be respectful of different opinions, and try not to interrupt or dominate the conversation.
Leading and Hosting
Each month, a different member will lead the meeting. The leader is responsible for coming up with discussion questions and helping guide the flow of the conversation.
If you have the space and would like to host, you’re encouraged to do so. Hosting isn’t required—especially for those with smaller places—but it’s always appreciated when someone can. Members are welcome to co-host if they want to share the load.
If the person scheduled to lead can’t make it that month, just let the group know in advance so someone else can step in.
Scheduling and Book Selection
We typically meet once a month, but that can be adjusted for holidays or scheduling conflicts. Books will be chosen by a group vote based off genre depending on what the group prefers.
A reminder will go out a week or two before each meeting with the details of when and where we’re meeting.
Group Atmosphere
This is meant to be an enjoyable and low-pressure space. Come even if you didn’t finish the book. Bring snacks or drinks if you’d like, and feel free to suggest small themed ideas or activities.
The main goal is to have good conversations, discover new books, and spend time together.
