About CBK Book Club

This book club is created by a member of and targeted at other members of the Center for Being Known (CBK) who are interested in exploring the works of psychiatrist and author Dr. Curt Thompson.

The primary goal is to foster a supportive and connected community that encourages consistent reading habits and facilitates deeper, meaningful conversations about the themes presented in his books.

The club aims to create a space for members to:

Set and achieve reading goals: Establish a structured approach to reading through Dr. Thompson’s various books, such as Anatomy of the Soul, The Soul of Shame, and The Soul of Desire, to ensure steady progress and completion.

Engage in deeper conversations: Move beyond surface-level discussions to explore how the concepts of neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, and Christian faith apply to personal lives and relationships.

Build community: Connect with fellow CBK members who share an interest in understanding shame, desire, and the human mind, creating a supportive environment for mutual growth and vulnerability.

By combining shared reading goals with intentional conversation, the book club will offer a unique opportunity for members to deepen their understanding of Dr. Thompson’s insights and build stronger relationships within the CBK community.
