About Book Ban Breakers

DON'T BUY FROM AMAZON IF POSSIBLE

-This club is a cooperation between the Book Ban Breakers and the Rutherford County Library Alliance!-

We are reading banned books and books with similar material.

There are two meetings every month. One is always held on the first Sunday of each month at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The second one is moving around right now, for anyone who can't make the first. Currently it is being held at Jack Brown's in the square. Both meetings will be discussing the same book, and people are welcome to come to both, if they'd just like to get together and chat along with whoever is at the second but not the first.

For the second meeting I'll have a table already and I'll have the book propped up on the table.

This club is meant for everyone who wants to connect to humanity in a meaningful way and make supportive connections in the local community. In the fight against book bans I feel like a lot of the focus is on the constitutionality of the bans and on the people who's jobs are affected by the bans, and the people who are not able to access the books are left behind in the conversation.

The club started with the children's book "Me and My Dysphoria Monster" by Laura Kate Dale, and we'll be following it with Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinburg.

The Spine Shop in Smyrna carries Me and My Dysphoria Monster, and Stone Butch Blues is free to download as per the author's wishes on hir official website.

There is now a discord for the Book Ban Breakers, which is a group that I created separate from the Rutherford County Library Alliance to tackle more than just book bans, since they're a part of a bigger problem. It's a work in progress.
