super creepy, loved the ongoing sense of dread. really liked the writing in general as well and the use of storytelling through an author's notebook entries. the ending was kind of vague unfortunately, but was still a fun eerie read.
Creepy, atmospheric, minimalist. A perfect read for a winter's night. Kehlmann's writing is enjoyable overall, but story-wise I was left wanting more. The weird events were too vague and left unexplained. Sometimes not having answers makes sense, but in this case it just felt lacking and frustrating. Also, the ending felt sudden. Would still recommend its inclusion on a horror lit list. I would also still read another book by this author because I did enjoy his writing style.
I’m not sure if I like this writing style. And to be incomplete the way it is sets off my OCD.
