RITA(R) Award Winning author Alexis Daria brings readers an unforgettable, hilarious rom-com set in the drama-filled world of telenovelas--perfect for fans of Jane the Virgin and The Kiss Quotient. You Had Me at Hola is a New York Times Editor's Choice Pick, an O Magazine Best Romance Pick and on many more Best Of lists!

Leading Ladies do not end up on tabloid covers.

After a messy public breakup, soap opera darling Jasmine Lin Rodriguez finds her face splashed across the tabloids. When she returns to her hometown of New York City to film the starring role in a bilingual romantic comedy for the number one streaming service in the country, Jasmine figures her new "Leading Lady Plan" should be easy enough to follow--until a casting shake-up pairs her with telenovela hunk Ashton Suárez.

Leading Ladies don't need a man to be happy.

After his last telenovela character was killed off, Ashton is worried his career is dead as well. Joining this new cast as a last-minute addition will give him the chance to show off his acting chops to American audiences and ping the radar of Hollywood casting agents. To make it work, he'll need to generate smoking-hot on-screen chemistry with Jasmine. Easier said than done, especially when a disastrous first impression smothers the embers of whatever sexual heat they might have had.

Leading Ladies do not rebound with their new costars.

With their careers on the line, Jasmine and Ashton agree to rehearse in private. But rehearsal leads to kissing, and kissing leads to a behind-the-scenes romance worthy of a soap opera. While their on-screen performance improves, the media spotlight on Jasmine soon threatens to destroy her new image and expose Ashton's most closely guarded secret.

3.5 stars. Writing was good, steamy scenes were steamy, loved seeing such diverse and relatable characters...

It was just a bit repetitive and I didn’t get sucked in. It happens. No shade to the author — still would definitely recommend to others!

Love seen representation in book about Latinos!! make my heart so HAPPY. Jasmine & Ashton this couple are what I imagined every time I saw a novelas when I was 12. I love how we were able to get a glimpse of the show they were filming. This book shows that family is very important to both characters. How Ashton is so protective of his family and how much Jasmine trusts her family. Jasmine just got out a relationship were she knows she just was to be love by someone but at the same time needs to focus on her career come first. Ashton is a man who is dealing with self-doubt and vulnerability for a secret the his hiding. -Love between telenovela actors -single dad -age gad -Insta-lover -Miscommunication -workplace -forced proximity

OMG! This book is just so amazing. I was so awed to read about my own culture and language on printed pages!!! Puerto Ricans are a bunch of rambunctious and pride filled culture and I felt all of that reading this book. It has wonderful character development and steaaaammmyyyy scenes in other words the perfect cocktail of everything I look for in a book!

I haven’t read contemporary romance in a long time because I didn’t really find many that resonated with me. So why would Latinx television show stars do it for me? Because they felt so human. I can’t stand the “sassy” attitudes of most female characters bc authors think it’s humorous. I understand some people enjoy that but it feels juvenile to me. Adults don’t communicate like that. I’m glad Jasmine also didn’t feel over the top “boss babe” or “I’m not like other girls”. She was just so relatable to someone who is trying to grow her career and navigate a healthy relationship after being so publicly embarrassed by someone she felt emotions for. Ashton made some bonehead moves throughout the story but I felt he made the right moves near the to make things work in a realistic way.
Side note: I listened to the audiobook and I think that contributed to how much I enjoyed it bc oh boy, hearing Ashton’s Spanish was a delight. The chemistry between Ashton and Jasmine is ON FIRE
