Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.

Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.

In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

Interesting concept of faeries being plant-like. Wish I could give it 3-1/2 stars.

I've read some outstanding books recently that have literally raised the bar on what I think is a good book. Having to read this for my book club after having read some of those left me pretty disappointed. Neither am I a fan of young adult novels. Very few have the muster to pass over into adult reading material- this isn't one of them.

This book is wonderful and we should definitely read it and discuss it with our kids. Here is a wonderful video of a kindergarten teacher reading it and discussing it with children: https://youtube.com/watch?v=jgVgZVBS-oY&feature=youtu.be. I'm ordering our copy now.
